As new parents ourselves, we were always looking for ways to make parenthood a little easier, more satisfying, and less stressful. So we started collecting different ideas for how to do this, and once we saw how life-changing some of them were, decided to share the best ones with the rest of the world. Thus, Project Quartz was born.

Today, Project Quartz has grown into a collection of over 200 life-changing tools sorted into 20 mom-relevant categories including: organization, prioritization, productivity, satisfaction, self-care, self-worth, and stress and overwhelm.

In the Little Free Library, you’ll find one of our favorite tools from each of the 20 categories. For example, Glad Hatter, a tool to help you identify and appreciate all the different hats you wear as a mom.

Drawn from over 300 sources, these tools aren’t your average “200 ways to…” They’re the top 1% of tools available—literally! Nick presents about 5% of the tools he reads about to Melissa, and she chooses about 1/5 of those to include in The Makerspace (5% / 5 = 1%, literally). As a busy mom herself, one of the most important filters Melissa uses to pick tools is: “is this something busy moms could do, and if so, would it be worth their time?”
