Means & Ends
Ask yourself if the thing you’re doing is a means to an end or an end in itself.
In other words, are you running purely for the sake of running? Or are you running to achieve some other goal?
If the thing you’re doing is a means to an end, ask yourself what end (or ends) it’s a means to.
For example, are you running to blow off steam? To improve your cardiovascular fitness? To impress potential partners at the gym?
As needed, ask yourself if that newly identified end is the actual end, or if it’s also simply a means to an end.
For example, is your ultimate goal to impress potential partners? Or are you trying to impress them in order to get something else, like: A one night stand? A long term relationship? A family?
Et cetera.
Record this tree of means and ends in your Project Quartz journal.
