Scissors in Every Room

Instead of organizing things by where they “should” go, consider how and where you usually use them, and put them in a place that’s conducive to that.

For example, a tape measure “should” live in the garage, but many things that need measuring live inside, so maybe it (or at least one of several) should actually live inside too.

Rather than following unspoken societal rules about where things go, rearrange your space as you see fit so the organization of everything best suits your usage.

In your Project Quartz journal, brainstorm a few different objects in your life that you could apply this principle to. Then go put it into practice!

We created this tool because we always needed scissors, but they were never where we needed them! So we finally bought a bunch of scissors and put them in every room we needed them—and we’re much happier now!
