Sparking Joy
To reduce clutter, follow these simple steps:
Put every item in a given category (e.g., clothing, books, etc.) in one big pile.
Holding each item sequentially, ask “Does this spark joy?”
If so, keep it. If not, thank it for its service, and let it go.
Enjoy being surrounded by items that spark joy.
Note: While traditionally applied to physical items, Sparking Joy can be applied to many other things, like your digital files, apps, social media accounts, weekly schedule, contacts list, etc.

If/when inspired, reflect on this experience in your Project Quartz journal.
Variation: Joy Suckers
You know those things that every time you see them in your closet or on your bookshelf, they do the exact opposite of sparking joy (e.g., the jeans that don’t fit anymore, or the book you hated reading)?
As soon as you identify something as being in this category, get rid of it! You don’t need those things sucking your precious joy.
