Time Enough

Pick a task you regularly do but aren’t sure exactly how long it takes (e.g., taking a shower, unloading the dishwasher, or making breakfast).

The next time you do this task, time it. Don’t go any faster or slower than usual, just time how long it naturally takes.

Record this time in your Project Quartz journal.

Now, rather than wondering if you have time to _______, you’ll simply know.

Repeat for any other tasks this might be useful for.

Variation: How Long Is __ Minutes?

Choose a length of time that you often find yourself having free (e.g., 1, 2, 5, 10, or 15 minutes). In other words, if you always catch the clock at 1:55 pm before you need to do something at 2 pm, you might choose 5 minutes.

Set a timer for that amount of time, and see how much you can get done before it goes off.

Now you have a better sense of how long __ minutes actually is.
