Read back your friendly advice to your yourself.
Variation: Mirror Talk
Look at yourself in the mirror, and talk to yourself as you would to your best friend.
Bonus: Imagine that the person in the mirror is actually a different person on the other side of a window, not just a reflected image of yourself. Treat that other person like they are your best friend.
